With their knowledge of the tourism, mountain biking and Instagram scene, Sarah and Lee can get us out of the blocks and teach us how to use it strategically and effectively.’ Jackie Gurden, West Coast Wilderness Trail
One of the New Zealand Cycle Trail’s most popular Great Rides, the West Coast Wilderness Trail stretches for 132km between Greymouth and Ross, with truly grand scenery and terrific heritage sites along the way.
We first ventured on the trail back in early 2015 when the Kumara to Kaniere section was still under construction. We could easily see the potential, got very excited (as we tend to do about mountain biking), and have checked in on the trail every time we’ve visited ever since.
To see the trail virtually complete is a treat indeed. And to be asked to help promote it to the world at large … well, how could we refuse? The West Coast, you see, is our favourite part of New Zealand.
In February 2018 we set up the West Coast Wilderness Trail Instagram feed, passing the baton to the trail trust after running it for a few months. Showcasing the spectacular landscapes and flinty history of what is one of New Zealand’s most photogenic trails, we trust it will flourish.
